…something special planted into an existing container.
There’s a couple of lessons here:
1) You can’t always trust houses that have already been renovated – especially if they are covered in rendered fibre cement.
2) Good communication and lovely clients can help navigate a difficult build to still reach an amazing outcome.

The Pot and Plant House sits on a sunny hillside with spectacular view. Both site and client suggested this project had a lot going for it but a previous owner had taken, what was probably a charming and robust cream brick house, and concealed it under layers of poorly considered short-cuts and stop-gaps.
It wasn’t just the build quality of the previous renovation, it was the lack of thought and lack of quality design that condemned any result – no matter how well built - to early obsolescence.
During construction, we uncovered a number of unwelcome surprises. Good communication with our clients carried us through but so did a well considered, well developed design.
The result is a much more functional family home but this is just the back drop for the real star – the plants!
